Starting Over

I was inspired to go to the doctor; it was not a good inspiration. I needed to get checked out before I ran out of time for insurance coverage as I am being layed off in the next couple of months. I made an appointment for a Friday to go see the doctor my very good friend recommended. I'm so happy that she recommended Dr. Allon. He is amazingly sweet, smart, caring... I could go on an on. He knew exactly what I had and how to rescue me from the evils of unbalanced hormones.
He placed me on a strict ALL organic gluten-free diet. He stated that my body does not respond well to artificial man made foods and drinks... another reason I could not become pregnant- these artificial hormones were blocking my natural female hormones...

This is my starting over: All I have been eating are organic fruits and vegetables (plus water). He said I needed meat but it has to be halal/kosher/organic meat and only twice a week. Reducing the bad artificial hormones will balance my natural female hormones. He also prescribed vitamin D and fish oil.
I was a bit skeptic that making this drastic change would take a negative toll but "doctor knows best" I was psyched to find that in 2 weeks I had lost 12 lbs and I feel great! I am excited to finally be on the road to good health and be a size 2-4 again as I was in my 20's.

I have my next appointment next Friday!

Work in progress

Well, the Nutritional Challenge did not go as planned. I came down with the flu...
Good news is that I have lost weight, my body is "harder" and looks a bit toned. I need to post pictures.
Changes in work life are crucial..they bring food so it's difficult to turn food down...very difficult for me because I love food; the good thing is that now I think before I eat. I try to make better choices.

I finally decided to wear a bikini and go to the pool yesterday; I didn't feel so bad wearing it. Most importantly, I actually swam better. I ran a few laps due to an injury during Sunday's Soccer Championship game. The opposing team was brutal and physical!

Continuing the journey ... I'm still a working progress.

The Start

When I first heard about CrossFit, I initially thought about it for a split second and the thought of it dissolved when I though I could "get fit on my own." Little did I know that as time passed, just playing sports was not enough. I am a year into my marriage and I gained a significant amount of weight. Some called it "living the good life" or "marriage weight"
NOT POSSIBLE, I was not going to have it. Inspiration came from my very good friend Irma and her husband Juan who after just a few months of doing CrossFit look amazing. After prioritizing my health to be at the top of my list, I decided to finally give it a try. I went to the information and introduction class and I have to say, I walked out with a confident feeling of "I can do this"  CrossFit Memorial Houston was the best choice I could have made. Everyone is so knowledgable, very amigable, inspiring and motivating!
I joined CFMH earlier this month and it was the best decision of my life! The first week I was sore, then came the mad "man-makers" This was the worst best pain I have ever had! In two weeks I was sleeping better, feeling better, an seeing a big difference in my body.

This is my third week and plan to participate in the CFMH Spring Nutritional and Fitness Challenge starting this Saturday. I will be posting my performance and my progress. Wish me luck!
